Communications Specialist Responsible for Press Issues at Tillväxtverket

About the Position

You see press work as an integrated part of communication efforts. Your expertise lies in the press area, but you will also work on assignments where you can utilize your other communication skills. You will be part of the communications unit, which currently consists of 16 people including the manager. Your colleagues have other areas of expertise and responsibilities, and together you work as a team to create and develop the authority's communication. You will lead our editorial work.

You are a driven writer with a good sense of which issues have news value. You have the ability to understand complex issues and make them comprehensible and interesting for both media and other target groups. We also expect you to be proactive and take the initiative for press releases and opinion articles, and to help our colleagues find the interesting angles in the news we want to convey. Since we have a broad operation with many different government assignments and we offer our target groups knowledge, networks, and investments, there is no shortage of material for news angles.

You will follow up on media work and be responsible for the authority's media monitoring, which is an important part of environmental monitoring.

You will support the Director General, managers, and employees in their contacts with the media. You will distribute questions from journalists to the right expert in the authority and coach spokespersons when necessary. You are a communication resource in the authority's crisis organization.

You will also work as a communications specialist, focusing on both external and internal communication, in larger and smaller projects. You will work both strategically and operationally.

Your Place of Work: Stockholm

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree in communication, journalism, or equivalent education and experience that we consider equivalent.
  • Several years of experience in the role of press officer/press chief/press secretary.
  • Several years of experience working as a communications specialist/communicator/communication strategist.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Very good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.

The following are desirable:

  • Experience in media monitoring and analysis.
  • Previously worked with press issues at a government authority or expert organization.
  • Background as a journalist.
  • Worked with communication in a preparedness authority.
  • Good skills in writing and improving texts for external and internal communication regarding tone, clarity, and accessibility.
  • Good knowledge of media monitoring tools and press release tools.
  • Experience in opinion formation.
  • Knowledge of using social media, such as LinkedIn, both for publishing posts and environmental monitoring.
  • Experience in crisis communication.
